WOOD USED

I use mainly driftwood found on the shores of the lower St. Lawrence River. This material carries its own history since this wood often spends years macerating in salt water, then cooking on the sand of the river coves. In these conditions the wood grain takes darker and lighter shades, adding beauty to the already exquisite texture of this type of wood.

One can find birch, cherry wood, ash wood, fir, elm, etc. After taking the shape that I desire, the wood is treated with oil and wax. Its warm and lustrous finish lures you into caressing it.

I also use laminated wood such as cherry, maple, cedar and others found on the market. I refuse to use exotic wood since I witnessed the depletion of the tropical forests in many parts of the world. I only use naturally dead or cultivated wood in my art.
